Chelsea icon Didier Drogba has made a return to Stamford Bridge and Cobham – just to renew acquaintances with his former employers.
Drogba has been linked with a return to Chelsea in a coaching capacity for quite a while. However, he chose to go down the route of football club ownership after deciding to join Phoenix Rising FC. He is set to become one of the club owners in the future. Drogba recently made a return to Chelsea training ground where he met up with a number of his former teammates like Eden Hazard, Willian, Cesar Azpilicueta, and David Luiz.
Drogba also came face-to-face with some of the latest generation stars at Chelsea, including Alvaro Morata. The Real Madrid forward has been signed for £ 70 million and he has already made a successful start to life at the club. The club legend also met with N’Golo Kante, who has been able to win back-to-back Premier league medals with two different clubs in the form of Leicester City and Chelsea.
Drogba is one of the greatest players in the club’s history, and he scored the winning penalty that helped the blues lift the Champions League in the summer of 2012. Almost every player was in appreciation of the visit by Drogba.
“With the legend Didier Drogba at Cobham today #legend #respect #blues #hustle,” said one of summer signings Antonio Rudiger. Azpilicueta claimed:“With the KING! Nice to see you again legend.” During his time at Chelsea, Drogba ended up winning 12 major trophies. He was at the club over the course of two spells, but the possibility of returning as a coach may be effectively over after he took over as the player manager at Phoenix Rising. Drogba is set to become the club’s owner in the future, and they may even get into the MLS.
