New LA Galaxy manager Curt Onalfo said that he had only one objective when he signed as a manager.
He said that he wants to win the league and that he believes that he has the necessary experience to achieve it.
He said that he did not take the job lightly and that he only wants to win trophies with LA Galaxy. He said that fans should not compare him to the earlier days where he was learning his trade with teams such as Kansas City Wizards and DC United. He believes that he is a much more accomplished coach now and that he is far more qualified now.
He said that he was young at that time and that he believed that he already knew everything. He said that you never stop learning as a coach, but he thinks that he has enough experience now to manage a team such as LA Galaxy.
Indeed Curt Onalfo has learned from the best as he has been an assistant to former LA Galaxy coach Bruce Arena. Although both men are quite close, he said that he is different from Arena when it comes to coaching.
He said that his teams would have a different playing style than the ones managed by Bruce Arena, but he admitted that he has learned a lot of things from his mentor.
He said that it is up to the fans to judge his managing style, but he wants them to give him some time. He acknowledged that LA Galaxy had lost some quality players such as Landon Donovan and Steven Gerrard, but he believes that there is enough quality in the team at the moment to challenge for the title.
He said that he would be challenging for trophies as from this season itself and he wants his players to be ready for that.
